However, all the beaches and tourist attractions of the popular family coastal resort of Guardamar Del Segura is only a 20 minute drive away. The main city of Orihuela City is just 7km away.  Orihuela is a city of around 33,000 people and the capital of the region of the Vega Baja De Segura in the Alicante province.  In addition to the many modern conveniences like hospitals, retail parks, shopping malls, leisure centres & sports facilities the city of Orihuela also boasts a beautiful and historical medieval city centre which is home to 5 national monuments. There are charming riverside promenades and plazas dotted throughout the narrow city streets and the main cultural highlights for visitors include the 14th century Cathedral, the mountaintop Arab castle and the baroque church of Santa Domingo. The region of Murcia´s capital Murcia City is also only a 25 minute drive away and the beautiful and cosmopolitan city of Alicante is about 50 minutes away. 

At just 40 minutes the nearest airport is Alicante and the new Region Of Murcia Airport is around an hour away by car.
